Why Early Childhood Education Matters
The first five years of a child's life are the most important for brain development. By age five, a child's brain reaches about 90% of its adult size, and more than a million new neural connections form every second in those early years . This makes early childhood a critical window—the experiences a child has now help build the foundation for how they'll think, learn, and grow for the rest of their lives.
Reading plays a powerful role in this development. Research shows that reading for pleasure in early childhood is linked to better cognitive assessment scores and stronger educational outcomes in adolescence—and remarkably, these benefits hold true regardless of a child's socioeconomic background. Simply put, the earlier a child falls in love with books, the stronger the foundation they build for lifelong learning.
At Literacy Love, we believe it's never too early to start building these skills. Our early childhood programs are designed to nurture curiosity, build pre-reading skills, and help every child develop a genuine love of learning right from the start.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
Mini Readers
We're excited to launch our Mini Readers program! This structured class includes art, letter sounds, letter formation, and listening comprehension skills, with guidance for parents and caregivers on how to support students at home. It's designed to align with the Scottish Rite BUILD program, following an evidence-based curriculum. Students will move around and have fun, but will also have structured literacy time at the table.
Students must be potty trained.
BUILD: A Scottish Rite Program
BUILD is a Scottish Rite program and a small group intervention that addresses five specific components of reading instruction- phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multi-sensory method to meet the needs of kindergarten and first-grade students struggling with reading. Learn more about BUILD.
This class is ideal for rising kindergarten and first-grade students who need a boost in early literacy skills, and for dual language students who need extra support with English phonics.

Literacy Love is thrilled to bring early literacy reading therapy directly to your child's school, working with them during the school day. This is a great option for students who may be at risk for dyslexia, or who are struggling to progress with learning letter names and sounds. Our program is built on the Scottish Rite BUILD curriculum, a proven, evidence-based approach to early literacy intervention. For families who prefer a different schedule, we also offer in-office lessons during the week.
