Building Confident Readers in Elementary School
Elementary school is a pivotal window for literacy. Learning to read starts in these years — and once a child masters it, reading becomes the tool they use to learn everything else. Research from the Annie E. Casey Foundation found that students who aren't reading proficiently by the end of third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma than their proficient-reading peers, making these early years some of the most important in a child's education.
At Literacy Love, our elementary programs are designed to meet each student exactly where they are — whether they're building foundational phonics and decoding skills, strengthening fluency and comprehension, or developing stronger writing skills to match their reading growth. Through small-group instruction and evidence-based curricula, we help students build the confidence and skills they need not just to read, but to love reading.
Every child learns differently, and our instructors tailor each lesson to fit your student's unique needs — because when kids fall in love with reading, everything else in school gets a little easier.
2nd Grade Reading & Writing
This small group is designed for 2nd grade fluent readers who are ready to learn how to respond to text using critical thinking skills while also developing stronger writing skills.
3rd-4th WRITING & TAG PREP
**Please note that TAG or private writing instruction is reserved for students who have aged out of their group programs, or those facing moderate to severe academic, social, or emotional challenges. Our small team of dedicated educators uses the same proven curriculum across both individual and group settings, ensuring every student receives high-quality, consistent support. Please do not double-book TAG classes. This prevents other students from enrolling. A student can only be enrolled in one TAG class at a time.
Ideal for any 3rd or 4th grade student looking to improve writing skills and/or prepare for the TAG writing essay. Students will learn to write an ECR (extended constructed response), along with different writing styles—persuasive, narrative, and informational.

SCOTTISH RITE PROGRAMS
Write Idea
Write Idea is a Scottish Rite program designed specifically for students with dysgraphia — a learning disability that makes it hard to produce written work accurately, fluently, and legibly, whether that shows up in handwriting, spelling, writing fluency, or written expression.
Dysgraphia often overlaps with dyslexia, but it can also affect strong readers who don't have dyslexia at all. That's why Write Idea exists as its own targeted program: students get the intentional, hands-on practice they need to build both handwriting skills and stronger written expression, using the same evidence-based, multisensory approach Scottish Rite is known for.

BUILD
BUILD is a Scottish Rite program and a small group intervention that addresses five specific components of reading instruction- phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multi-sensory method to meet the needs of kindergarten and first-grade students struggling with reading.
This class is ideal for first grade students who need a boost in early literacy skills, and for dual language students who need extra support with English phonics.
Turbo Start is a Scottish Rite-developed dyslexia curriculum for newly identified students, and also works well as an intervention for struggling readers in 2nd grade or higher. It covers the five components of effective reading instruction—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—through a direct, systematic, multisensory method built on the evidence-based Take Flight curriculum.
Ideal for struggling readers, students waiting on a school dyslexia program, and dual language students needing English phonics support. Students learn cursive and build confidence, with a short weekly homework assignment (about 5 minutes) reinforcing progress.
Turbo Start
Literacy Love is thrilled to bring early literacy reading therapy directly to your child's private school, working with them during the school day. This is a great option for students who may be at risk for dyslexia, or who are struggling to progress with learning letter names and sounds. Our program is built on the Scottish Rite BUILD curriculum, a proven, evidence-based approach to early literacy intervention. For families who prefer a different schedule, we also offer in-office lessons during the week.

AT-HOME keyboarding class. Students receive a personal login and password to practice at their own pace, and will need access to a standard keyboard. Daily practice is key to building typing skills.
